Case study · Postcards
From a 0.6x ad return to 3.7x. A store rebuilt around the bottle.
Postcards Perfumes bottles four scents from places India remembers. Their old store was slow and looked like every other template, and their Meta ads returned ₹0.60 for every ₹1 spent. We rebuilt the whole store, and the ads now return ₹3.70.

- 3.7xMeta ad return now, up from 0.6x
- +42%sample pack sales, as the client reported
- 1.3 secto main content on a slow phone, from 2.8 to 4.2
- ~13 secbefore visitors clicked away on the old store
Nothing jumps while the page loads.
01The brief
A perfume brand with a good story, and a store that did not tell it.
Postcards sells four 10 ml perfume oils, each bottled from a place in India. They were paying to send people to the store through Meta ads. The store was where those visitors were lost.
02The problem
0.6x
That was the return on their Meta ads. Every ₹1 spent on ads brought back ₹0.60 in sales. We went through the store to find out why.
Slow
The old store was slow, and visitors clicked away at around 13 seconds. In our own test on a slow phone, the main content took 2.8 to 4.2 seconds to appear and the page shifted as it loaded.
Forgettable
It looked like a template. Four scents with real stories came across like any other online perfume shop, so there was nothing to remember the brand by.
Hard to choose
As the co-founder puts it, people can’t smell a website. Visitors browsed, got confused by the scent notes and left.
03The goal
Make the store fast, make it memorable, and help a stranger pick the right scent without smelling it.
04Our approach
How we approached it.
Diagnose before designing.
We started with what was going wrong: speed, a generic look, and no way to choose a scent. Each problem got its own fix.
Make the bottle the hero.
The product is the story, so it opens the page. The bottle turns as you scroll, and people see it from every side before they read a word.
Replace guesswork with a quiz.
Four questions, each a place you would rather be. The answers point to one scent, so nobody has to decode a list of notes.
Open the door to business buyers.
Gift boxes for individuals, and one enquiry form for corporate gifting, bulk orders and retail partners.
05What we built
One store, four jobs.
-
Hook
The bottle turns as you scroll, so the first thing a visitor sees is the product itself.

-
Browse
Four places, four scents, ₹399 each, with one line about where each one comes from.

-
Choose
A four-question quiz points each visitor to a scent, with no scent notes to decode.

-
Gift and bulk
Boxes of three scents at ₹899 or four at ₹1,099, and an enquiry form for businesses.

Also on the store
- A scent wheel
- Customer reviews
- Shipping and ingredient answers
- Corporate gifting
- Bulk orders from 25 units
- Retail partnerships
- Alcohol-free oils, 8 to 10 hours of wear
06The result
The result.
Every ₹1 spent on Meta ads now brings back ₹3.70, up from ₹0.60. Sample pack sales rose 42%, as the co-founder reported, and on a slow phone the main content appears in under half the time.
- 3.7x
Meta ad return
Up from 0.6x. Every ₹1 spent on ads now brings back ₹3.70 in sales, about six times what it did.
- +42%
Sample pack sales
Reported by the client after the quiz and the sample sets went live.
- 1.3 sec
Main content, slow phone
Down from 2.8 to 4.2 seconds on the old store. Our test: simulated slow 4G, a phone-sized screen, CPU slowed 4x, three runs each.
- 0
Layout shift
The old store scored 0.064 as it loaded. The new one scores 0, so nothing moves under a thumb.
07In the client’s words

“The hardest part about selling perfume online is that people can't smell a website. Visitors would browse for two minutes, get confused by scent notes, and bounce. Disojo built an interactive quiz that guides customers to their exact fragrance match and bundles discovery sample sets. Our sample pack sales jumped 42% almost immediately.”
